CFP Green Buildings is a leading provider of data-driven insights that help real estate owners, investors and facility managers future-proof their portfolios. The Green Buildings Tool (https://cfpgreenbuildings.com/europe/) analyses building and portfolio performance, translating complex data into clear, actionable insights and robust business cases. Their Green Buildings Tool evaluates multiple sustainability aspects, including the energy performance of buildings, and identifies opportunities for improvement. The platform supports facility managers and investors in optimising performance across individual buildings and entire portfolios. CFP’s mission is to make all buildings sustainable, with the Green Buildings Tool playing a key role in scaling that impact. To ensure the platform is inclusive and usable for all, CFP partnered with Unravel to conduct a comprehensive accessibility audit.
The scope of the audit covered both technical and user-centered aspects to ensure inclusive access for all users. The audit included code analysis, as well as testing for keyboard navigation to verify that all interactive elements could be operated without a mouse. Color contrast checks were performed to ensure visual content met WCAG standards for readability. The audit also evaluated content scaling and responsiveness across various devices and screen sizes, confirming that the interface remained functional and legible. Lastly, we tested compatibility with assistive technologies, such as screen readers and voice control.

We reviewed all application views and individually tested the color contrast of each interface element to ensure full compliance with WCAG requirements.

We conducted screen reader tests using VoiceOver on macOS and NVDA on Windows to assess the accessibility and usability of the application for non-visual users.
Automated and Manual Code Analysis
We ran automated tests using the WAVE evaluation tool and complemented the results with detailed manual code reviews to identify issues that automated tools might miss.
Keyboard Navigation and Responsive Design Testing
We evaluated the application’s keyboard accessibility, focusing on focus management and logical tab order. In addition, we verified responsive design behavior and the application’s compatibility with assistive technologies across various devices and screen sizes.

The project covered critical areas including color contrast, screen reader compatibility, keyboard navigation, responsive design, and code accessibility.
